Mariël van den Eerenbeemt was born on the first of May 1963 in Hoorn (Netherlands).
She lives and works in Gent (Belgium).

Her family knows a long tradition of art painters, concerning at least seven generations.
Nathalie van den Eerenbeemt, her aunt, is an art painter and instructed art. Her grandmother Nathalie Boon (1900-1988) studied at the Royal academy of art in Amsterdam and her brother Ad Boon (1898-1966) was an sculptor. Their grandfather Emmanuel van der Ven (1821-1883) was a painter of portraits en his son Emmanuel (Manus) van der Ven (1866-1944) was an art painter. Emmanuel (Manus) van der Ven painted mainly flowers, he also had an artistic ancestry, his great-grandfather, grandfather and father were working on the canvas.

Beside her work as an art painter she has done projects with dancing, photography, film, sound and graphic design.
